What’s a Good Anti Aging Skincare Routine?

Many companies are endlessly advertising youth restoration ingredients in their products.

Although there are countless numbers of creams and lotions designed to reduce wrinkles and prevent future skin damage, unfortunately, not all aging skin products work as well as they claim to.

Ah yes, Marketing initiatives also play a HUGE factor when buying anti aging skin care products. Cute packages, fun presentations, and delicious smells all play a part in our decision-making process.

But do any anti-aging skin care products work at all in favor of your skin aging?

We bet that… not so much.

In fact, some fragrances and skincare products’ active ingredients can do more harm than good to your skin. And the irritation caused by fragrances can be traumatizing, especially if you have sensitive skin.

So whenever looking for the best anti-aging skin products, search for fragrance-free options.

This to say: If you’re not super, duper careful, not knowing how to read skincare labels might end up actually ruining your skin.

Due to this fact, it is important that women looking into purchasing an anti-aging cream, investigate the scientific evidence used by the manufacturer to back up each product before making a purchase.

Although some companies have been found guilty of fabricating evidence, others have been able to produce results through several clinical studies that demonstrate the safety and efficiency of their ingredients.

Let’s find out what anti-aging skin care products are perfect for your particular skin type. You’ll also learn the best ways to prevent wrinkles, aging face, improve dull skin, and smooth fine lines.

Clinically proven, of course.

What’s the secret to anti-aging?

Well, that’s the million-dollar question, right? (more precisely, that’s the USD 133.90 billion question).

Skin aging is something every person on this planet faces. Unfortunately, this is one of those things in life that we gotta accept.

Heck, even my dog (who is currently 13), has had better days (love you, Joey!)

But, in today’s day, it is possible to age gracefully and stay younger looking by taking daily measures to improve your skin’s appearance and fight visible signs of fine lines.

This means using the help of your favorite anti-aging product. A few examples of mine are:

  • Hydrating serum to maintain a healthy skin texture and restore moisture (any other hyaluronic acid lovers here?)
  • Anti aging serum with anti-inflammatory properties to combat those pesky fine lines and wrinkles
  • Sunscreen to avoid excessive UV rays exposure, dark marks, and skin cancer.

Antioxidants

Using skincare products with high concentrations of antioxidants such as vitamins A, C, E or alpha-hydroxy acids can help fight visible signs of aging by helping:

  • Fade dark spots
  • Smooth skin texture,
  • Reduce wrinkles

(oh my!) .

Topical Vitamin C, for example, has been further proven to reduce sun damage and improve skin texture. Vitamin A, on the other hand, is an antioxidant that counteracts free radical damage on your skin.

Alpha-Hydroxy Acid (AHA) helps to renew skin cells, accelerating exfoliation. And if you remove dead skin cells, you’ll make space for new skin cells to form.

As well as skincare, you can also eat foods or supplements rich in antioxidants like spirulina, vitamins, or Beta-carotene to help look after your skin and other parts of your body.

Tip: Do you have oily skin? Then to avoid excess oil production, stay away from applying products containing Vitamin C directly on the skin.

Sensitive Skin

To avoid protecting sensitive areas while still getting full sun coverage, use a daily moisturizer or foundation that contains both antioxidants and sunscreen.

Antioxidant & Sunscreen combinations are just as effective in fighting aging signs as antioxidant creams alone, offering enough sun protection for even the most delicate areas of your face such as around the eyes, nose, and lips.

Aim to apply antioxidants cream around your eyes to reduce any dark circles and crow’s eyes.

Sun Exposure

Always wear sunscreen before your moisturizer to ensure you get full sun protection.

For best results, use sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 every day (I personally use SPF 50 even when it’s raining outside).

If you plan on being outside for more than an hour, reapply the sunscreen every hour to avoid having wrinkles and uneven skin tone.

Skin Aging and Reducing Fine Lines

Younger-looking skin begins with hydration. And to avoid wrinkles and lines caused by dehydrated skin, always drink plenty of water every day (dry skin is more likely to wrinkle faster – yikes!).

Hydrating your skin also gives your complexion a youthful glow. Drinking water is one of the famous ways to help make your skin more radiant by flushing toxins and bacteria out through your pores.

Alternatively, mineral water sprays can do wonders for your skin texture. I keep one at all times next tome work computer at my desk, and a small one inside my bag whenever I fly by plane or go to cold countries.

Anti Aging Moisturizer

Having some help from your favorite little wrinkle creams never hurt anybody.

Always moisturize after your cleansing routine to replenish the moisture that has been lost.

Your skin’s protective barrier exists within its outermost layer, which contains natural oils produced by sebaceous glands in most parts of the body.

If this layer becomes too dry it can lead to irritation, sensitivity and increase the likelihood of developing wrinkles or fine lines.

Improve Skin Texture

To avoid allowing free radicals to harm your complexion it is important not only to use antioxidants but also vitamins A and E. For best results apply a serum containing Vitamin C directly onto the skin before moisturizing. Vitamin C has been proven to reduce redness caused by aging.

Dead Skin Cells

Exfoliating up to twice a week can also do wonders for your anti-aging regimen. That’s because exfoliating helps remove dead skin cells, thus allowing your products to better penetrate your skin.

About Sunscreen

Use the appropriate sunscreen based on your skin tone. Using one that’s too light or dark could cause you to not get enough sun protection.

Sensitive Skin

Moisturize after shaving your legs to keep skin hydrated and looking young while avoiding irritation. A healthy skin care regimen, regardless of your skin type, should always use alcohol-free products.

This will ensure your skin doesn’t get overly dry.

Skin Barrier

For increased skin firmness always apply a serum or cream that contains peptides. Peptides can be described as chains of amino acids and help to stimulate collagen production which makes them great anti-aging ingredients. They also help to increase the elasticity in your skin without irritating.

Clear Broad Spectrum SPF

To avoid signs of aging caused by sun damage always apply sunscreen daily. To get the best results, choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher.

Gentle Cleanser

Use a facial wipe that contains antioxidants to remove makeup, dirt, and other impurities after a long day before you go to bed.

Best Anti Aging Skincare Ingredients (and what they mean)

Here is a list of our favorite anti-aging skincare must-haves, alongside its explanation so that you take your skincare routine to the next level, regardless of your skin type.

  • Lactic Acid
  •  Glycolic Acid
  • Zinc Oxide:
  • Ferulic Acid
  • Hyaluronic Acid

  • Vitamin C

Wait, wait, don’t panic. In case you’re totally lost and confused, let’s quickly explain what each of these actually means.

Lactic Acid

Increases your cell turnover, helping eliminate accumulated dead skin cells on the epidermis (your skin’s top layer). When using lactic acid in 12% concentrations, the skin gets firmer and thicker. As a result, there is an overall smoother appearance and fewer fine lines and deep wrinkles

Glycolic Acid

Glycolic acid consists of tiny molecules that the skin absorbs very well. It protects collagen and helps your skin shed dead skin cells. This process smooths and brightens your skin, keeps your pores clean, and prevents ingrown hairs and acne. Zinc Oxide

Ferulic Acid

An antioxidant perfect for an aging face that works to boost the effects of other antioxidants. When used in skin care products, it helps to protect overall skin integrity by reducing the development of fine lines, spots, and wrinkles.

Hyaluronic Acid

My favorite anti aging serum, perfect for every skin type.

Helps reduce the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles retaining moisture to the skin, creating a plumping effect.

When the skin is protected and hydrated, increased skin cell production can take place, as the skin isn’t busy fighting for hydration. This leads to smoother, plumper skin cells.

Kojic Acid

Lightens visible sun damage, age spots, and scars., resulting in fantastic anti-aging effects on the skin. This is the perfect skin-lightening product

Botanical Extracts

Helps treat inflammatory conditions such as eczema, acne, and psoriasis (conditions that affect the texture and appearance of your skin). These will also help enhance the elasticity and texture of your skin, helping with irritation, dry skin, or wrinkles.

Retinoids

Reduce fine lines and wrinkles by increasing the production of collagen. These magical droplets also stimulate the production of new blood vessels in the skin, which improves skin color. Additional benefits include fading age spots and softening rough patches of skin texture.

Vitamin C

A powerful antioxidant that protects your skin cells from damaging free radicals caused by UV exposure. It also inhibits melanin production in the skin, which helps to lighten hyperpigmentation and dark circles, even out skin tone, and enhance skin radiance
