Beautiful hair, lustrous locks, healthy hair, thick tresses, voluminous hair, and shiny hair all have one thing in common – they don’t have split ends, nor do they suffer from frequent breakages.
It is almost as if the attractiveness of your hair boils down to its structural strength and is pegged on its ability to weather abrasion.
And this should be in any way surprising, considering that weak hair is linked to a number of problems, including hair fall, breakages, premature balding, and several other hair-related complications.
For this reason, it is extremely important to be in a position to identify signs of weak hair early enough before things worsen and get out of control.
We have compiled a list of reasons why hair weakens and a few calculated measures you can take to strengthen your tresses.
Table of Contents
Truth be told, there are several causes of weak hair, some of which are totally avoidable, while others are almost inevitable. Here’s a quick primer on that.
Frequent braiding, ultra-tight hairstyles, and hair extensions can exert an unbelievable amount of stress on your tresses.
This, if unchecked, can result in your hair becoming gradually weaker, especially if you already have very fine hair, to begin with.
The same applies to perming, dyeing, and the application of excessive heat during blow drying, straightening, and curling, all of which tend to the cuticle (the outermost protective layer of your hair).
Lack of access to essential vitamins and nutrients such as Vitamin D, A, E, zinc, niacin, iron, selenium, folic acid, and quality proteins can really predispose you to have weak hair.
This explains why the effects of chronic emotional stress or being on a crash diet will typically manifest on your crown of glory, first by making it dull before giving way to split ends.
Fortunately, this is easily resolvable by tweaking your dietary regimen to include more protein in your eating plan and supplementing with collagen capsules, especially if you are a vegan or vegetarian.
People with serious underlying health issues such as pneumonia and autoimmune infections tend to suffer a higher probability of losing their follicles and having weak tresses compared to relatively healthier individuals.
Hormonal problems stemming from hyperthyroidism (i.e., having an overactive thyroid) or hypothyroidism tend to result in significantly weaker hair. The same often applies to conditions such as PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), where some women may experience what resembles male-pattern baldness
As illustrated above, quite a few factors could affect your hair’s health. The major ones include;
Here is the thing – genetic factors are responsible for your hair’s color and overall density, growth rate, and texture.
Female and male pattern baldness, for example, heavily hinges on hereditary factors. The increased susceptibility to hall fall is caused by unusually high levels of DHT (dihydrotestosterone), which is known to trigger the progressive weakening of hair follicles.
At the end of the day, you are what you eat regularly. The same applies to your hair, which is actually majorly made up of keratin.
As such, a balanced diet rich in a variety of essential nutrients is needed to furnish the structural building blocks required to keep your mane strong, shiny, and lustrous-looking.
Supplementing with crucial nutritional elements such as collagen through well-formulated collagen capsules is necessary to oversee healthy hair growth.
It is thought that the input of critical hair growth nutrients optimizes your hair cycle by prolonging the anagen phase while simultaneously postponing the telogen phase, eventually improving your hair’s overall growth rate.
Here’s how to strengthen hair and increase your chances of getting, keeping, and maintaining super strong locks.
It goes without saying that proper intake of critical minerals is required to maintain healthy and resilient tresses that can withstand everyday wear and tear.
And considering that a deficiency of nutrients such as vitamin D3, iron, collagen, and zinc typically leads to fragile and weaker hair, the immense impact of proper supplementation with collagen capsules and hair-friendly vitamins cannot be overstated, really.
Truth be told, there is only so much that conventional conditioners and rinse-off shampoos can do to keep your hair in excellent shape.
That’s why hair experts recommend spending money on sulfate-free cleansing products that contain a healthy dose of copper peptides and biotin, which can play a key role in stimulating the scalp and strengthening weak tresses.
You probably already know protein is the nutritional building block needed to fuel your body’s development, growth, and maintenance cycle.
The same applies to your tresses and follicles. It is, therefore, not surprising that a protein-rich diet is needed for a strong and healthy mane, considering that your follicles are primarily made of protein.
A lack of protein in your diet can seriously hamper your efforts to grow and maintain lustrous-looking locks. It is not even unusual for hair loss or stunted growth to accompany a serious shortfall of quality protein in your dietary regimen.
Contrary to the common misconception, the insane benefits of a hair mask go beyond being an occasional self-care or luxurious indulgence.
In fact, quality hair masks can aid in protecting and restoring your hair’s keratin exterior armor by nourishing the hair shaft with a generous dose of essential nutrients and proteins.
Furthermore, a hair mask is formulated to penetrate deep into your hair strands, strengthening them starting from root to end, which averts breakages and repairs split ends.
A relatively recent study conducted back in 2016 found that regular scalp massages can help gain and retain thicker/stronger hair, especially if done consistently.
Apparently, the immense benefits of a scalp massage center heavily on its influence on the development of hair follicles.
Regular massages increase hair thickness by stretching hair follicle cells while at the same time dilating the blood vessels that nourish them, which, in turn, encourages hair growth and stimulates the follicles to sprout thicker tresses.
From massages to masks, supplements to calculated dietary changes, there is definitely a lot that you can do to strengthen hair and keep split ends or breakages at bay.
Most importantly, do as much as possible to steer clear of overzealous styling approaches such as abrasive hair-processing chemicals and heat styling, which ultimately do more harm than good under the pretense of looking good in the short term.

With all that fun from laying under the sun all day wearing your new swimsuits, comes the potential for damaged skin and hair if we’re not careful throughout the day.
This post will go over a list of the essential best beauty products for you to carry inside your beach pouch next time you go on vacation.

Hopefully, the weather is balmy and sunny during your beachside vacation — what else could you possibly ask for?
However, your regular makeup routine may not be conducive to those hot, sticky days.
Some women are happy to cut out 20 to 30 minutes of their daily makeup routine for a week, opting for bare, sun-kissed skin. Others feel more comfortable using a cream or tinted moisturizer to enhance their complexion and hide blemishes.
Regardless of what type of woman you consider yourself, a BB cream with SPF is always a good idea to have on hand. BB creams give your skin light coverage without the cakey feeling that builds up when you sweat.
Even better, BB creams with SPF are easy to find at the store. While it may be just a small amount of SPF, it’ll add more sun protection.
Your skin accumulates plenty of dirt and grime after a long day swimming in the ocean. Thankfully, makeup remover pads are ideal for giving your skin a refreshing wipe-down to remove the built-up gunk.
Makeup pads (or makeup wipes) are a must-have in your beach beauty bag no matter where you travel during summer vacation. They clean up messes, take off makeup, and offer a quick body refresh.
Not properly removing makeup and sunscreen clog your pores, traps contaminants, and leads to chronic inflammation that speeds up aging appearances and pigmentation.
We’ve all been there.
Sun, sand, and water can be harsh on our beautiful summer manicures and we can more often than not be caught with chipped manicures.
I don’t about you but I hate it and it kills me when this happens. To solve this issue, I always bring with me inside my beach beauty bag nail polish remover wipes. Equally important, a small nail file doesn’t add much weight, but can also be a real-life-saver whenever we travel.
Imagine embarking on your dream seaside vacation only to find yourself fighting a nasty breakout or dry and flaky skin?
Hotel soaps smell divine, but they may not be the most compatible with your skin care needs.
You’ll need to pack the right cleansers to ensure that ultimate summer glow. Face wipes are fine to start your skin care regimen, but cleansers will penetrate your pores and remove excess dirt.
Various facial cleansers are available for your skin type, but products that contain retinol, vitamin C, salicylic acid, and exfoliants are usually best. For example, retinol has anti-aging and acne-blocking properties that remove dead skin cells and promote healthier regeneration.
The most important product to pack in your summer beach beauty bag is sunscreen, regardless if it’s tinted or not. A long history of research has associated various skin cancers with ultraviolet (UV) rays.
For the best protection, use sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher (I’d say preferably SPF 50 and water-resistant during the hot months — you can never be too careful, right?).

Be sure to reapply your face sunscreen regularly if you’re out in the sun all day. Not only will it protect your skin against sunburn, but it will help prevent wrinkles and premature aging.
If you want to ensure you look good while remaining protected from UV damage, a tinted SPF is a great beach friend. I myself suffer a bit from melasma (regardless of how many hyperpigmentation beauty products I try), but I’m not one of those girls who enjoy having a lot of makeup at the beach.
So I enjoy using a tinted sunscreen like this one from Cerave is great to create an even skin tone and hide any nasty pimples or acne scars (it works like a mix of a foundation with sunscreens, and its lightweight formula is perfect to hide texture). Alternatively, this one is a best seller on Amazon, with over 25k reviews.
By now, it’s a given that sunscreen is always a must to protect your skin from UV damage, but what about your hair?
Exposure to the sun is one of the most frequent causes of hair damage and can lead to discoloration, dryness, and brittleness (oh my). This UV hair protection spray is formulated to protect your hair and control frizz and prevent split ends.
Also, beach hair tends to get frail and dry, so it’s always a good idea to have a beach hair cream to comb your hair while maintaining it hydrated at all times. Trust us, your dry hair will thank you later.
So in case you’re aiming for beautiful and healthy beachy waves hair, be sure to protect your strands.

Some hair types naturally produce beautiful mermaid waves after soaking in salt water all day. Heat and sweat may take a toll on other women’s strands.
You’ll miss out on all the fun if you spend your vacation days rewashing your hair at the hotel every few hours. That’s why it’s a good idea to pack a bottle of dry shampoo inside your beach beauty bag.
Dry shampoo helps soak up oil while restoring volume and freshly washed texture to your hair. It also helps neutralize any odors you may be eager to hide.
Spraying a bit of dry shampoo throughout your hair can help you save some time on your beauty routine, especially if you’re making a quick turnaround from the beach to dinner reservations.
This ocean-scented hair mist spray is easy to reapply when you’re lounging on the beach or poolside and it won’t leave hair looking oily or feeling weighed down.
During summer, you lose a lot of water from your body, which leads to dehydration, and this includes your face).
Many women wrongly believe they shouldn’t wear face moisturizer during summer because their skin would get oily, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, when your skin is super oily during the summer months it means it’s already dehydrated.
So yes, maintaining your face moisturized, even when it’s super hot, is extremely important because it will help counter-balance your skin’s oil production.
So inside your beach beauty bag be sure to add a handy Face moisturizer (your superhero of beauty products, which will ensure to nourish your skin and create a barrier against the sun rays and hot climate).
Facial moisturizers come in creams, serums, or oils. If y0u’ll be sending all day outdoors or at the beach, you can also purchase moisturisers that target specific parts of the face (I spread a heavier one on top of my melasma spots).

Coconut oil is ultra-hydrating and contains antibacterial properties, such as lauric acid if you choose to use a natural oil to enhance your skin after a day at the beach.
In case you still think that using face lotion at the beach is heavy for your skin, ensure your skin is hydrated by adding to your beach beauty bag a tiny mineral face mist. These are PERFECT to refresh and a lightweight way to keep sensitive and greasy skins hydrated at all times.
Don’t forget to protect those luscious lips, either. Purchase a lip lotion with enhanced UV protection to keep your pucker hydrated and prevent sunburn. It’s the best resource for hydrating my chapped lips pre-, during, and post-beach
A tined lip balm will also add some color to your lips, which will ensure to give you an extra natural glow, even when you’re not exactly wearing makeup. Tinted lip lotion can also be used on your cheeks, lips, and eyelids, which brings me to my next point.

This is a little cheat trick I like to use to pretend that I have a tan on my face.
if you’re scratching your head, I don’t ever tan my face. I’m so freaked out of UV spots and of making my melasma worse, that I usually use very strong sunscreen and big sun hats every time I’m at the beach.
So, when my body starts getting a nice bronze and my face remains pale, I take out my liquid blush from my beach beauty bag and spread it on the apple of my cheeks for an instant sun-kissed glow. The best part is, that I can also use the same liquid blush on my eyelids as an added beauty trick.
Liquid blush is super versatile and easy to apply, being perfect for the beach (no need for brushes or beauty sponges). Simply tap your finger into the product and blend it into the skin.

Summer can be unpredictable and you never know where you’ll be going after the beach. Even if you stay all day long outdoors soaking under the sun, you might still go for a quick happy hour before going home.
This means you can never be too safe. Bring in your breach bag a mini deodorant in case you’re got off-guarded with the summer duo, happy hours + heat waves.
If your trip is around the corner, it’s time to get vacation-ready! Check out this complete beauty prep checklist before heading off to your destination. You don’t want to miss this fantastic advice.
Before heading off to your destination, it’s essential to prepare for the fun ahead. And you can start with beauty and skin-care treatments to look your best on vacation.
You can shave, exfoliate, and moisturize your body to ensure hydrated and smooth skin. You can also receive a spray tan to arrive with a “vacation glow.”
In addition, it’s best to get a manicure and pedicure before leaving. And for lasting results, you should get dip powder nails!
One of the benefits of dip powder nails is that they last longer than gel manicures. You can enjoy your vacation without fear of chipping your polish!
Traveling can do a number on your skin and body. From long commute times to carrying heavy luggage, arrival time is beauty-revamp time! And one beauty tip for traveling is to take your facial cleanser and wash your face.
While traveling, you expose your skin to numerous environmental elements and germs. Therefore, it’s best to remove dirt and oil before it settles into your skin, causing acne breakouts.
Along with cleansing, apply your favorite lotion or moisturizer to lock in hydration. And if you’re vacationing in a sunny or tropical location, don’t forget to wear sunscreen. It will protect you from the harmful effects of UV rays.
Of course, being vacation-ready is great for the destination arrival, but you should still be mindful of your body during the trip. And a beauty prep checklist isn’t complete without things you should do during your stay.
We hope you’ve enjoyed this article with our favorite essentials so you look fresh and gorgeous even when the weather is HOT.
Remember to pack the essentials in your summer beauty bag if you want to shine and feel amazing be it if you’re lounging by the pool all day, or swimming in the ocean.
Consider leaving your normal hair and makeup routine at home. A summer getaway is meant for simple beauty upkeep, relaxation, and carefree sunny days.

Most people plan fun events and activities with friends when summer arrives. There’s nothing better than attending festivals, spending all day at the beach, or going on vacation with your best friends— unless you can enjoy those things with more self-confidence.
Here are the best summer beauty tips and simple ways to embrace your natural beauty this season and get the most out of your warm-weather plans.

Table of Contents
There are many summer beauty tips that you can follow so that your hair, skin, and body always look amazing. To name a few:
Now let’s go into each of these, one by one.
You might fall in love with some new clothes or jewelry, but they don’t make you feel as confident as you’d like. That piece of clothing might not work with the undertones in your skin.

A person’s skin tone is a mix of many colors, so specific shades may make you appear more washed out than others. Look into the various skin tones to determine if you have warm, cool, or neutral undertones. You’ll pick flattering outfits and clothing colors more easily and show off your natural beauty.
Dry skin isn’t just a winter problem.
Your face may also become flakier after healing from sunburns or spending time in a chlorine pool. Investing in a face scrub is one of the simple ways to embrace your natural beauty this summer. You can use it daily or weekly to exfoliate dead skin cells and help your skin stay radiant.
If you want to go all out, take a whole day to pamper yourself. You can either decide to create a whole spa experience at home, or go for the pros. Take a bubble bath, put on a face mask, and try out some new hair goods or even luxurious skin products.
This spa day will be great for both your physical and mental health.
Applying sunscreen every day is always a good idea during the summer and you should always have SPF 50 sunscreen inside your summer beach beauty bag. Even if you’re not going to the beach or spending a few hours in your backyard, you’ll still get sun exposure that’s more intense due to the summer heat.
You could apply traditional sunscreen before starting your day or wear a facial lotion with SPF protection.
A product with an SPF rating of 30 will block out the most ultraviolet (UV) rays, so you don’t need to purchase expensive products of SPF 50 or higher to get adequate skin protection.

Staying hydrated is another way to embrace your natural beauty. Your skin will be dry and uncomfortable if you’re not drinking enough water to keep your cells healthy.
Remain hydrated by consuming more water, making homemade ice pops and eating water-based vegetables like cucumbers and your skin will glow.
Swimming in your favorite pool is a fun summer activity, but it can damage your hair. It’s challenging to feel confident about yourself if your hair has constant breakage, feels fried or becomes discolored.
You could always wear a swim cap, but that’s not everyone’s style. If you’d rather let your hair flow loosely in the water, use a chlorine removal shampoo as soon as you finish swimming. The shampoo has ingredients that remove chlorine deposits on hair strands and moisturize your scalp to prevent damage.
We’ve also published an entire post for 12 awesome summer hair care tips so that you have beautiful, frizz-free hair all summer long.

Go out for ice cream with your friends and sip cool sodas on the beach. Enjoy those sugary treats, but avoid consuming them all the time if you want to embrace your natural beauty.
Research shows that sugar spikes your insulin, which binds to collagen in skin cells and breaks them down from the inside. Eating more sugar leads to breakouts, so limit your intake to reasonable amounts if you want to feel more confident about your skin.
When was the last time you updated your wardrobe?
Summer is the perfect time to showcase your natural beauty. Try on different outfit styles to see what’s most flattering. You might discover high-waisted shorts or short summer dresses that you wouldn’t have tried on otherwise.
Even a simple wardrobe addition like a wide-brimmed straw hat will make you appreciate your appearance even more. If you need help, this post goes over all the summer packing essentials so that you never forget anything important during your next summer travel.
Beauty and health brands often advertise products to help consumers prepare for bikini season. Although it’s fine to lose weight with the help of your doctor, you won’t enhance your beauty by using products that aren’t healthy.
Look for red flags in the marketing materials for summer diet programs, supplements or health products, such as:
The best way to succeed with an eating plan is by talking with your doctor. They’ll help you determine a healthy way forward or if you would best benefit from another change in your routine.
What’s holding you back from embracing your natural beauty this summer? Whether you need to drink more water, wear sunscreen or care for your hair differently, you’ll find the best way to gain self-confidence and enjoy this season to the max.

Regardless if you have thin or thick hair, or whatever your hair type is, clip-in extensions have the power to both give you a professional-looking mane, while also being able to completely damage your hair. That’s why today we’ll be talking about the surprising pros and cons of clip-in hair extensions that every woman should know.
Hi girls, how are you today?
Are you tired of styling your hair just for it to look lifeless?
Had enough of your botched haircut and can’t wait for your hair to grow out?
Most people tend to shy away from semi-permanent hair extensions because they could be rather damaging.
But that’s where clip-in extensions come in (queue to Superman’s theme song).
With the help of the clip-in extensions, you can easily bounce back from bad hair days, and get instant volume and length that no amount of styling can achieve. This type of hair extension is actually the least damaging out of all extension types.
But before you hit that “add to cart” button”, make sure you learn all the pros and cons of clip-in hair extensions.

There are many types of hair extensions out there – it’s best to know what to expect to be sure you’re making the right decision for your hair.
If you’re afraid of wearing hair extensions and wondering if clip-in ones might cause any damage to your hair, then keep on reading this post. We’re confident you’ll be surprised that you learn today about clip in extensions.
Table of Contents
Feeling like rocking a trimmed, long bob today? Done.
But, uh-oh, now that your hair is as short as Anna Wintour’s, you find yourself wanting to have hair that goes down to your hips once again.
No problem-o! We’ve got 4 words for you, my friend: clip-in hair extensions.
Unfortunately, not all of us were born with naturally long, full head of hair. Making things worst, as we age we tend to have less and less hair. But that’s exactly where clip in hair extensions (also known as clip-in weaves) come in.
Unlike the more permanent tape-in hair extensions, clip-in hair extensions are more dynamic. And, since you’ll remove the clips just as soon as you return home, your natural hair will not suffer so much damage to your hair.
(the constant tension in your roots from permanent extensions can result in traction alopecia, a form of hair loss caused by constant strain on the roots)
Rather, clip-in extensions is a fantastic haircare trick where you add wefts of hair into your natural hairline with the help of small pressure clips. And to ensure a natural effect, one set of clip in hair extensions includes several different sized wefts of hair.
Depending on the size of the weft of hair, it can have from 1, 2, 3, even 4 clips to help secure the lock in place.
Being so easy to apply, clip-in hair extensions has been a quick and easy way to instantly add extra life and thickness to any hairstyle for years (without having to step a foot into your hairdresser).
Now that we how the clip in hair extensions differ from its counterparts, let’s learn exactly what are the pros and cons of clip-in hair extensions.
There are so many good reasons to start using clip in extensions, such as:
Now let’s talk in detail about all of pros of clip in hair extensions.
If this is your first foray into the world of hair extensions, clip-in human hair extensions are a great place to start. They are easy to put on and remove, and there’s no learning curve involved.
You don’t have to go through lengthy fittings or visit a hairdresser just to have them installed. You also won’t need fancy tools, glues, heat, or sticky tape. Everything you need is already at your fingertips.
To apply clip-in extensions to your hair, whenever your hair is freshly washed, spritz on dry shampoo. Follow by applying hairspray to your roots. This will give the clips something to hold on to so they don’t slide out.
Don’t stress about getting your clip-in extensions perfect on your first try. You can always unclip them and try again as many times until you get the right look.
Take a breather to properly apply your clip-ins. If not properly applied, they risk bothering you, eventually falling out, or worse, being exposed for people to see (and judge).
Video resource: How to Apply Clip-In Hair Extensions, by Rapunzel of Sweden
Below is a quick video for hair extension application method for you to avoid damage from hair extensions.
Summary:
Tip: Once applied, avoid any damage from hair extensions by doing whatever it takes not to pull on them throughout the day.
Which takes us to our next benefit:
As you can see from the above step-by-step explanation on how to properly apply your hair extension for best results, these clip-in extensions options are super easy for beginners.
Honestly, even your grandma wouldn’t have much difficulty applying them. So even if you’ve never touched a hair extension, now that clip in extensions are a great and easy way to have thicker hair every day.
Adding on, not only are clip in extensions easy to apply, they’re also a breeze to remove. All you have to do is find the weft and unclip them. Be sure to to this with some patience to avoid unnecessary damage to your hair.
A clip-in hair extension has clips that are attached to your hair. These clips are so discreet and lightweight that it almost feels like you’re not wearing anything.
They prevent the extensions from slipping and will act as a barrier between your hair and extensions.
For a more subtle and natural effect, most clip in hair extensions are made up of natural human hair. They also come in a variety of different colors for you to choose the one that best matches yours.
Hair extension color tip: If your hair extensions don’t match your natural hair, be sure to buy one that is most similar to yours and take them with you to your next hair salon visit.

Ask the stylist to match the extensions for your hair. It might have an extra added cost, but this will last forever.
Plus, nothing is worse than clip in extensions that do not match your natural hair color. Big no-no.
Clip-ins are temporary hair extensions that can be removed once you no longer need them. This is great if you’re wearing them for a one-time event.
If your lifestyle requires you to play active sports or if you tie your hair back often, then clip-in extensions are the better option.
Since clip-ins are not designed to be worn permanently, they will need to be removed at the end of the day. Also, you’ll be happy to know that clip-in hair extensions are actually the least damaging and less risky out of all extension types.
You cannot wear them to bed or while in the shower. If this is a deal-breaker for you and you need something more permanent, try tape-in extensions.
If you’re just starting out and want to experiment with different colours to know what looks good on you, clip-ins are your best bet. It’s so much fun to pick the color type of hair extensions.
You can go as a platinum blonde one moment and then become a brunette on your next outing.
Experiment with ZALA clip-in extensions first before committing to a more permanent type of hair extension. Once you’ve decided on a colour or style, that’s the time you choose for a permanent or a semi-permanent option.
Have a wedding or any other special occasion and your hair is feeling lackluster?
Clip-in extensions can further be utilized to accomplish a wide range of extravagant updos and hair locks for such occasions where you need to look your best.

At the point when you need your hair to look completely stunning, wearing clip extensions will be sure to add more life to your otherwise thin hair. And since the clips are removed after you return home, your natural hair will not be harmed.
Use hair extensions to help boost your confidence. As the name says, clip in extensions are made to be added by clips and are in no way a permanent solution for thin hair.

They’re amazing for a short-term change.
P.S: While clip ins are by far the least damaging type of hair extensions, for permanent hair extensions, tape ins would be the ones that cause the least damage, regardless of your hair type. Tape in hair extensions also give you a more natural style.
Unfortunately, not all are sunshine and roses when talking about clip in hair extensions. Now, let’s dive into a few of its problems:
These added hair locks are awesome for quick solutions, but might not be what you’re looking for in case you want more permanent, lasting effects for your natural hair.
That said, we want to cover any possible damage your hair extensions could possibly cause your strands.
Here are all the negative things to consider before trying on clip in extensions.
Some types of hair extensions can be mixed and matched to create a custom blend.
Clip-ins are not customizable, but you do have the option of bringing them to an expert colourist to have them dyed according to your preference.
Clip-in hair extensions do not sit flat against the scalp. If you frequently wear high buns and ponytails, you’ll need to learn the correct placement of the wefts to keep them hidden, or you can use ponytail extensions instead.

For people with really short hair, it can be quite a challenge to put on hair extensions. The clips could become visible, and the extensions harder to blend with your real hair.
If your hair is on the shorter or finer side, it’s recommended that you grow your hair out first before using clip-ins, or use tape-ins instead.
If you want luxurious, natural-looking hair, then invest in ZALA’s Remy human hair extensions. Clip-in hair extensions are one of their most popular products, and finding your perfect match is easy as they offer a free color matching service.
Clips ins are not a solution for every hair type. If you have fine hair, these are most definitely not a good choice for you because they are generally heavy. This unnecessary extra weight on your own fine hair is a risk and could contribute to hair loss and could cause damage to the hair follicle.
If you’re hair is not fine, you should still be diligent when considering clip in extensions. There are cases of poorly-applied extensions and improper maintenance that contribute to hair loss, regardless of your type of hair (from thick to thinner hair).
No. Also, after wearing hair extensions for a long time, it’s not recommended to get new extensions straight away. Give your scalp some room to breathe and recover.
Clip in hair extensions are most defiitiely the least damaging type of hair extensions. They’re fairly simple to apply and remove, plus and they don’t affect your daily life or ruin your hair as much as permanent extensions. More permanent hair extensions are more likely to cause damage (the glue application method can cause breakage, even pull your hair)
Yes, if overused. They are not designed to be used every single day. An important rule of thumb is to never sleep in them. Also for all extension types, give your hair some time to recover once they’ve been removed
Not if properly applied, but if you put them in incorrectly, the wefts or strands may detach and begin falling apart. Also, adding on to the above, this is another reason why you should always remove them before going to bed (otherwise, you’ll be risking further damage to both your natural hair and your extensions).
The most likely cause of your clip in extensions causing you discomfort is because you placed your extensions too close to your roots. This puts unnecessary pressure on your scalp and can further cause damage to your hair.
Clips ins that are been placed too close to your scalp will probably stick out. That’s because, being so close to your scalp, they are unable to lay flat against your head.
Clip in extensions strands are attached to the hair and for that reason it tugs at your hair and scalp. This causes a risk of damage due to weight and pressure placed on your hair roots. This tension can lead to traction alopecia, a type of alopecia caused when pressure is constantly put on the roots, damaging the hair follicle. If you wear your extensions every now and again, remove them when you’re sleeping a
Clip in hair extensions were never designed for every day wear, only for those looking to have a glamorous night. If you regularly use clip in hair extensions to have a fuller head of hair, give your hair a rest and try out tape in hair extensions.
High quality clip-in hair extensions will last you anywhere from 3-6 months up to a year. How long your extensions last depends on three things:
1. Its quality
2. How often you wear them
3. If you take good care of them
Great! We hope this post was helpful.
It’s good to remember that virtually all hair extension methods add some sort of weight to your strands. Clip ins, on the other hand, are a useful alternative because they’re so easy to remove that you can instantly take them out to avoid any risk or damage to your hair strands.
Also, keep I mind that the quality of the clips you buy also has an impact on the damage risk (improper maintenance and buying cheap ones have the power to ruin you hair at unprecedented speed).

Everything You Should Know Before Getting A Dip Powder Manicure
The nail industry does not stand still, and every season there are new trends in nail design.
The hot trend of 2022 is dip powder manicures.
Fast, simple, long-lasting, and safe – this is what manufacturers of various dip systems promise. The gel-powder coating system has been developed for those who appreciate not only beauty but also health.
Powder for nails with fixative and activator strengthens nails and nourishes them with vitamins.
So if you wanna join the trend next time you go to your nail salon, here is everything you need to know about dip powder manicures.
Learn what are the best dip nail starter kits, how to remove dip powder nails, and the best nail care so they last for up to two to three weeks. Here’s how to get the hottest nails trend of 2022.
Table of Contents

Standing between a regular mani and a fake acrylic nail, the dip powder nail trend is making a buzz among fashionistas who enjoy always staying on-trend, even when it comes to their nails.
Contrary to popular belief, powder manicure (also known as SNS nails) is not new in nail aesthetics. It actually gained some popularity around the 80s, along with the still gaining momentum gel and acrylic.
Now with the help of dip powder, you can not only strengthen the nail plate but also easily create a spectacular design.
By itself, a jar of powder is a useless product. A high-quality manicure can be achieved only when using all means.
The coverage system includes prep gel, base coat, powder, sealer, and topcoat.
The results are long-lasting nails that could last up to a whole month.
Depending on the manufacturer of the gel powder, the name or list of base products may change.
Nail tech has come a long way.
Similar to gel nail polish (where you use a base coat activator and finish it off with a topcoat sealant), you dip your nails into a little jar of powder in your chosen color (we love this hot pink nails for a cute Spring nail color).
Alike your regular nail polish, gel polishes are painted on, but take a step further and require UV or LED light to harden. Dip powder, on the other hand, involves dipping each finger into an acrylic-colored powder, followed by painting on an activator polish as a topcoat.
Such a manicure is something between artificial nails and a regular coating. Some masters simply call it “lightweight acrylic”.
Creating such a funky nail design does not require special skills or extensive experience. Even at home, following the recommendations, you can make spectacular-looking dip powder nails.
*P.S. If you’re going to a nail salon, keep an eye out to avoid dipping your nails into the powder (for hygienic purposes). Instead, your nail technician should brush the powder directly onto your nail, or alternatively pour powder from the pot into a Dixie cup for single use.

The reason many salons avoid this is that it is more wasteful. But especially in a Covid Era, one can never be overly cautious with bacteria (and you might otherwise risk getting a nai infection).
Now lets go over a few of the benefits (and drawbacks) of dip powder nails.
Compared to conventional manicure and gel polish, powder manicure has a number of advantages:

Coating nails with dip powder is an easy and relatively quick process.
Creating a manicure involves several stages:
As with every post at La Belle Society, we love sharing the best videos from around the net to help illustrate what we talk about in a post.
That said, here are two Dip Powder Nail video resources to help you better understand the dip nails trend.
Dip nails themselves are not harmful to your nails. The problem might lie in its removal process. The dip powder nail is closely related to gel nails (both require a removal process that can be tough on your natural nails).
To properly remove dip powder nails you need to use 100% acetone on your nails, which can damage your nails.
That’s because, the acetone removes more than the nail color, potentially peeling off layers of the nail. This can cause your nails to thin over time and excess usage.
If you have thin nails, don’t forget to care for them by intaking the right Vitamins and calcium to strengthen your natural nails. Keeping your nails healthy is super important for beautiful and durable results.
To avoid damaging and weakening your nails, we of course advise you to visit a professional technician for the best results. But regardless of your preferred removal process, keep in mind it is always best to space some time in between your dip powder manicure to give your nails space to breathe and recover.
If you dream of strong spectacular nails, then be sure to try the trendy dip manicure. Unleash your imagination, you can create your own unique innovative design.
Remember that well-groomed hands are the hallmark of every woman, which is why it is so important to pay great attention to your nails and keep your nail polish well kept at all times.

Hair care is not only important for appearance, but for overall good hygiene as well. We all aspire for healthy hair and scalp to look our best all the time.
Summer hair care is no different.
But just as the sun rays have the ability to damage your skin, it can sadly equally damage your hair.
Saltwater, humidity, chlorine, sand all over… it’s a mess. And all the summer fun can take a huge toll on our strands.
The first aspect other people notice is your hair, and how vibrant and healthy it is. A good mop of fuzz on the head is a sign of confidence and shows how you project yourself in front of others.
Healthy hair is also critical to your health and well-being and should be taken very seriously. So what’s the point of doing regular hair care routines but by the time summer arrives, your hair starts looking lifeless?
This curated list of summer hair care tips can turn your dream of having flamboyant locks even when the weather is HOT.

Summer doesn’t have to be the season of bad hair days, endless frizz, and dry strands.
With these 12 amazing summer hair care tips, you can rest assured tat your locks will shine all season long.

Our first summer hair care tip is a no-brainer.
No matter how much care you take to keep your tresses in good shape by following the various hair care tips, you simply cannot avoid split ends, (especially in summer with all the humidity up in the air)
Rather than trying to comb them down, make an appointment with your salon specialist and get them trimmed off. When hair splits it is already dead, so snip them off at the first sign.
Aim to trim your hair every few weeks to get rid of those brown and rough split ends
Alternatively, you can trim about 1/4th inch of your hair at home every few weeks to keep the rough split ends at bay. Don’t forget to wash your comb regularly to keep it clean.
If you want to maintain your hair healthy during summer days, keep in mind that you might need a mid-season cut, too.
Summer has the ability to tangle our hair like crazy. If you have thing hair, this can be especially daunting.
A simple thing like brushing the hair regularly can make a huge difference in how your hair looks throughout summer.
Yes, comb your hair regularly, but don’t overdo it. Hair fall every day is a natural feature of the renewal cycle. I recommend using a wide tooth comb to avoid any hair damage and hair loss. summer hair care summer hair care summer hair care summer hair care
While normally a person loses around 50-100 strands of hair daily, excess brushing will result in more hairs snapping off.
Moreover, use a brush with ball-tipped bristles to comb your hair when dry and a broad-toothed comb instead when you have wet hair as they are more fragile and prone to breakage.
An important summer hair care step is correctly brushing your hair to help distribute the oils, stimulate the scalp and help remove dead hair.
Gently blot wet hair with a towel. Follow by combing your with extreme care because wet hair is more fragile and prone to breakage. Use a wide-toothed comb for wet and damp hair!
UV rays are another source of hair damage that you may not be aware of and summer hair protection is super, duper important too. It is recommended to cover your head whenever you are out in the sun for long periods of time.
Prolonged exposure has been known to cause dandruff, hair fall, oily scalp and scalp pain.
Shield your strands from the sun by making it a daily habit of applying a hair care product that contains UV filters. These products will most definitely protect your hair from sun damage. If you have colored hair, these will also keep your hair color from fading.
Protect your hair by wearing a hat if you plan on staying long hours outdoors. Besides the traditional hat, scarves can act as a perfect accessory against harsh weather and keep the head cool.

Lastly, it’s not only the sun heat that could potentially damage your hair during summer. So be sure to use a heat protection spray to safeguard your hair from temperatures up to 450°F.
This will also prevent split ends and strengthen the hair during the hot summer months.
As tempting as it might be to have beachy waves hair all summer long, every so often, give your hair a break from blow dryers, flat irons, and curling irons.
Video resource: Summer hair tips: How to get beachy waves hair with no heat
Your hair can only absorb a certain amount of water so wash it with fresh water before diving into the swimming pool.
By having wet hair before diving, you’ll limit the amount of damaging chlorine that your hair will absorb, minimizing hair damage.
Take this step further if you’re a frequent swimmer (or if you have very blonde hair) by investing into a non-toxic purple shampoo.
Try purple shampoos below. These are all carefully selected professional-grade products that will cleanse the hair of impurities and eliminate unwanted brassy tones.

It’s normal that we wash our hair more often during the summer months to get rid of sweat and greasy scalp.
Just be sure to follow with a deep-conditioning treatment to care for your dry hair ends and keep your hair hydrated when it becomes dry and brittle.
Conditioning of the hair is important to keep it straight and manageable, but be careful to apply it to the ends of your hair only and not to the scalp. Especially in summer, a hair conditioner can make fine hair look limp.
‘Wash hair with an SPF shampoo and oil-based conditioner for sleek hair, and blot dry with a microfibre towel to avoid frizz’, says Victoria Beckham’s go-to hairstylist Jason Collier
Remember to rinse conditioner thoroughly from hair.
Pro Tip: Once in a while, apply warm scalp oil and wrap your head in a towel to let the oil work its way. Scalp oils are a perfect way to add and seal in moisture, as well as soften patches of built-up dry skin.

Environmental factors which affect the hair are unavoidable, but you can do a lot to control their impact by choosing the right kind of hair products.
For example, the lower the number of chemicals in your shampoo, the healthier your hair would be., regardless of the time of the year.
This is because the parabens and sulphates that are used in shampoos for preservation and lather can cause irritation and hormonal disruption after prolonged use.

Another summer hair care tips is to opt for gentle shampoos instead to match your hair form and style. Choose shampoos and conditioners designed for your hair type, such as those for oily, fine, or color-treated hair.
Because of excessive sweating during summer, dust and dirt can accumulate on your scalp, which may cause itchy scalp and eventually dandruff, which can lead to dry, lifeless hair.
Scalp care is important for boosting healthy hair growth. Apart from reducing tension and relieving stress, massaging the scalp increases the blood circulation.
This results in promoting healthy hair follicles, a vital element of hair growth.
Make sure the oil you use in your summer hair care routine has natural ingredients. The best way to go about it is using your fingertips to massage the scalp with medium pressure.
I know, I know. nothing beats a hot water shower to relax and unwind, especially when it is super cold outside. But your hair (and your skin) would beg to differ for your summer hair care.

That’s because the high water temperature strips your scalp’s essential oils, making your hair drier, duller, and more prone to frizz and breakage, and your hair’s natural shine can fade away.
When washing your hair, concentrate on cleaning primarily the scalp, rather than washing the entire length of hair. For best results and to avoid damaged hair, massage your scalp twice a week with warm hair oil and then shampoo.
If you haven’t been massaging your hair regularly, it’s high time you introduced this in your hair care routine. Frequent scalp massages can keep your ends looking healthy
Blow drying makes your hair as beautiful as your favorite Hollywood celebrity. But keep in mind that excessive heat styling can damage your hair scalp if you use it a lot during your summer hair care routine.
Turning on the heat too high when straightening, drying or curling your hair can cause a lot of damage. If you have damaged hair, take a break from styling.

No doubt these products have the power to take your hair to the next level, but excessive use of these styling tools puts your strands at risk. Take some breaks from using heat on your hair by letting it air dry whenever you get a chance.
Of all the styling tools, the blow dryer is most essential, but is also easy to control to avoid damage.
While regular use will cause breakage and thin ends, switching over to the cool setting, or limiting its use to 2-3 times a week can help prevent any harm to the hair.
If you are using a flat iron, use it no more than once a week and use a heat protecting product when straightening.
When you dry your hair at home always use a heat protector. Protect your hair from the damaging effects of hot hair style tools.
One of the best hair care tips—but for some reason also regularly one of the most ignored—is using a heat-protective spray on your hair before using hot tools like blow dryers.
When your hair is dry or damaged, the outer layer of your hair strands raise, which can give us a messy look. During summertime, because of the dryer air, your hair will seek moisture from the air around it.
This humidity causes the hair to swell and turn frizzy.
The solution? When everything else feels dry, a drop or two of anti-frizz oils or serum can help smooth hair and add shine. This is a brilliant summer hair care step.
There is more to summer hair care than just shampooing and washing, following a weekly hair care routine is also important.
We may all have different hair concerns but ultimately everyone wants a strong and luscious mane.
That said, to retain moisture and add shine to your stresses, you must thoroughly follow this weekly hair routine:
The same nutritious food which you consume to promote a strong and healthy body are good for your hair during summer too.

Taking proper care of your hair during summer is essential. Part of this hair care is to eat right and keep yourself hydrated (more on that below).
Keep in mind that it is not just the external care that matters to have healthy hair, but also the right diet that can make a massive difference. So keep an eye in what you eat during summer not only to avoid extra pounds, but also to have beautiful hair.
Hair is primarily made of protein, so make sure to pump in at least 45 gms daily. Diets that are weak in protein can result in brittle hair and loss of hair itself.
Top up your diet with nuts and fish to infuse protein and omega-3 fatty acids to ensure a healthy scalp. Leafy vegetables, such as carrots and beans are also a good food supplement for your locks. If you have difficulty staying on top of your food intake, vitamins can are an easy, quick boost that can help your hair look healthy.
Hydrate from the inside. It can do wonders to your scalp and hair, especially in summer days.
It is important to keep your scalp cool so be sure to drink a minimum of two liters of water a day.

When the seasons change, not only should you absolutely practice a good Spring cleaning at your home and get more organized, but so should you skincare. That’s because different weathers affect our body in different ways.
My usual summer oily skin needs extra moisturizing in winter months because it gets so dry to the point it’s unrecognizable.
Needless to say that the harsher weather during the winter months has the capacity of stripping off our skin from its natural moisture. That’s why winter skincare is all about locking in that moisture at any cost to boost dry and flaky complexion.
This means that some skin care products that you use during winter might be a bit too heavy for your skin during Spring time and warmer weather.
In this case, a lighter moisturizer would work best.
That said, here are our best spring skin care tips to smoothly make this seasonal transition.

Dry winter air can cause dead skin cells to build up more than expected, even for people who typically have oily skin. And exfoliating is imperative in the removal of dirt, waste, and dead skin cells because it stimulates cell turnover.
This might be a daily challenge for you if you notice regular flaking around your nose, chin or cheeks.
Clear it all away by exfoliating your face and repeat the process at least once a week. Your pores will be able to breathe while they work overtime during sweaty spring and summer afternoons.

Use an exfoliating mitt to keep your skin looking and feeling amazing, and finalize it with a moisturizer (pro tip: apply while skin’s still damp for an extra hydration boost).
Ah yes, as always, any dermatologist will always tell you to always (and we mean always) to apply sunscreen to avoid sun damage. Sun exposure causes premature aging, lines, and wrinkles and greatly increases the risk of skin cancer.
You don’t have to give up using serums just because it’s warmer. Trade-in your oil-based serums for water-based ones.
Concentrated beauty products will clog your pores more quickly if they compete with sweat. People most typically use them when they don’t have to worry about perspiring in the winter.
Spring is the perfect time to switch to water-based products like serums. A water-based serum still has all of the concentrated nutrients for your skin, but it’s more lightweight
They soothe your skin and protect against developing fine lines, and they will also prevent breakouts. Your face will feel lighter and fresher by simply changing the ingredients in your preferred products.
At first glance, this may seem like a no-brainer. It’s something you should do no matter what season it is.
But you’d be surprised with how many people overlook proper hydration for their skincare regimen. Always drink plenty of water throughout the day.
If drinking water regularly is something that you have difficulty, try walking with a water bottle to remind yourself to drink water more regularly.
Further on, a standard lotion will provide a natural barrier and locks in your skin’s natural moisture.
As the season changes and Spring arrives, be sure to switch to a more lightweight moisturizer because thicker moisturizers can make your skin too oily and break out during warmer seasons such as Spring an August.
So when the seasons change, it’s best to switch to a lighter moisturizer formula. This daily hydrating face cream is from Kiehls really saved my skin last year (as you may know, I’m quite the Kiehls fan)
You’ll likely spend more time outside as the weather warms up, so switch to a lighter shampoo that doesn’t leave your hair feeling heavy.
The extra sunlight can damage your hair or cause dye to fade. Ultraviolet (UV) light exposes remaining natural pigments and ruins even fresh hair coloring, so change your shampoo to one with SPF protection.
You’ll extend the life of your color after your next trip to the salon.
What should you do when your hair or scalp gets burned?

A hair mask is a simple at-home solution that you can add to your weekly routine.
They restore moisture to fried ends or hair that’s been damaged by chlorine. Stockpile them in your bathroom so one is always ready in case of an emergency.
Old products can host a colony of unwanted bacteria, leading to clogged pores and dull skin.
And makeup brushes are often overlooked. These have the potential to storing germs and viruses. Aim to wash your makeup brushes at least once a week (especially important during warmer months when our skin produces more oil)
You’ll likely switch to a powder-based foundation in the spring, so don’t forget to wash your brushes often. It’s vital to prevent bacteria buildup and keep your skin healthy.
Use lukewarm water and a mild cleanser, and scrub gently in the palm of your hand.
Be sure to rinse them thoroughly and squeeze excess moisture out with a towel. Let sit overnight and they will be good as new in the morning.
You sweat in places other than just your armpits. Your brow bones, eyelids and cheekbones can all become damp with perspiration and affect your mascara.
Avoid the smudging and running makeup by using waterproof mascara when the weather gets hot.
A pack of makeup remover wipes will quickly clear everything away before bed.
Bold lip colors like bright reds and deep purples look fantastic in the winter, but spring is all about new life. When you picture blooming flowers and budding trees, you’ll see pastel colors and earthy tones.
Replicate those colors with your spring lipsticks and gloss. It’s a subtle nod to the time of year and a simple roster of shades that will match any outfit.
Ground your looks with earth-inspired lip colors, and your makeup will never look out of place.
Spring skincare is all about antioxidants.

These can (and should) be used year-round, but they are particularly helpful during the spring and summer months to avoid sun damage
While antioxidants are helpful year-round, they are particularly important during the summer (and warmer months such as end of Spring) when stronger UV rays can damage unprotected skin.

Spring is the time for new life, so why not bring that energy to your beauty routine? It’s time to get excited about a fresh update to your look.
No matter which tips you try first, you’ll end up with a routine that boosts your health and helps you shine.
Ah yessss, and transition from spring to winter is not only regarding your skincare routine, but also your skincare products.
It’s tempting to begin hoarding skincare products when you’re interested in keeping your skin game strong. What started as one or two bottles of moisturizer can quickly turn into five or six.
You have to ask yourself, “Do I need another sunscreen bottle?” Especially if you haven’t used them in a while, the answer is likely no.
In other words, Spring clean your bathroom shelf. Throw away those skincare products on the back collecting dust!
Spring is on the horizon, and it’s time to get rid of any products that have been in your cabinet for more than a few months.
It’s okay to let go.

If you’re like me, winter doesn’t necessarily mean feeling low or incapacitated, quite the opposite. I find winter a perfect time to lay low, create healthy, cozy routines, and catch up on a good book.
Still, you shouldn’t have to wait until the spring thaw for fresh, beautiful skin. That’s why I’ve collected my favorite winter beauty tips to leave your skin glowing when it’s freezing out.

You may have found a perfect moisturizer that works just dandy in warmer months. But as weather conditions change, so should your skin care routine.
Any skin routine worth its salt starts with two things: washing and moisturizing.
But if you want to get the most out of your face scrub and moisturizer during the harsh winter weather, you’ll want to employ a little strategy to your routine.
Luckily, we’ve got a few skin wellness tips that are just what your doctor prescribed to guarantee your skin looks healthy and glowing all winter long.
Let’s get right into it.
You’ll want to use lukewarm water when washing your face. And I’m not just saying that because using freshwater would feel like death this time of year.
Warm water will cleanse away oils for a cleaner face while making your pores look smaller. It also helps your skin better absorb your products.
Also, consider using the double-cleansing method for really removing your makeup at night. Start with a strong, oil-based cleanser. After rinsing this off, use a gentler soap.
Moisturizing is the key to trapping some much-needed moisture in our skin during the winter.
To get the most out of your routine, wait until after you’ve already washed your face. This will ensure your face is free from impurities. But you also want to avoid putting moisturizer on your skin when it’s too wet. Too much moisture will keep your products from being effective. A quick towel-dry will make sure your moisturizer works effectively.
Keep in mind that it’s not enough to simply apply hand cream in the morning and call it a day. Try to keep one at your desk, in your purse, inside your car so you remember to reapply the cream throughout the day.
The best way to maintain your skin healthy in winter is to moisturize it immediately after cleaning. And the reason for this is because any time you wash your face, you’re stripping your skin of its natural oils.

Experts say that it’s best to apply your moisturizer to damp skin. While this might seem odd, Dr. Estemalik explains that “the function of most moisturizers is to trap moisture in your skin. When you apply moisturizer on skin that’s really, really dry, it’s not going to be that helpful because there’s no moisture to trap.”
Takeaway: Apply your moisturizer to damp skin for best results, especially if you have dry skin to start with.
I don’t know about you, but I’m always on the lookout for exciting new skin-care products. But sometimes, the best option for our skin isn’t something brand new. It’s something older—old as dirt, you might say.
I’m talking about using products with more natural ingredients. These products are gentler on the skin and loaded with nutrients.
For example, if you’re trying to decide between two cleansers that use essential oils and fragrance oils, consider going with the one that uses essential oils, which are more natural.
If you have dry skin, buy soaps that are labeled ‘for sensitive skin’ and ‘fragrance-free’, as these contain fewer drying ingredients
While we are all forward to combating dry skin by following a natural skincare routine, a little help from their more powerful cousins can go a long way.
In winter months, steer away from clay masks, glycolic acid or salicylic acid, and retinoids, as these are harsher and have drying effects on your skin.
Instead, opt for a few powerful hydrating serums to add moisture to your skin.
There are plenty of reasons to drink more water in the winter. More water helps you fight dehydration and those pesky flu-season bugs. But drinking more water is also a great way to keep your skin glowing this winter. Here are a few ways water can help your skin:
Winter is here, but that doesn’t mean your skin has to suffer. By giving your skin a little more TLC this season, you can make sure your complexion glows more brightly than the sun off the snow.
Exfoliating your skin helps remove dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. In turn, this can help keep your skin looking smooth and vibrant. But as magical as the results may seem, be careful not to over-exfoliate your skin.
Put simply, if you do it too often it has the wrong effects and it will be more likely to break down your skin’s moisture barrier and cause damage.
Often we think of winter skin care, we immediately think of our face. But the remaining parts of your body get equally affected when the weather is dry.
Think of your hands, for example. The skin on your hands is thinner than on most parts of the body and has fewer oil glands. That means it’s harder to keep your hands moist, especially in dry weather. This can lead to itchiness and cracking.
Especially in a now-Covid world. We are all seemingly addicted to alcohol-containing hand sanitizers that leave our hands feeling like old raisins.

There are a few telling signs and regular symptoms of dry skin. These can be:

In winter, there is less moisture in the skin than in warmer months, as well as fewer lipids in the skin barrier. This imbalance contributes to your dry skin condition.
When it’s chilly outside, it’s only natural for people often to be constantly exposed to indoor heating. But this in turn will reduce the humidity, affecting how much moisture there is in the air and exacerbating dryness.
How to solve this: to keep your skin healthy in winter, buy yourself an air humidifier to add moisture back into your home. Having more moisture in the air may prevent and relieve skin dryness
According to the Baylor College of Medicine, taking hot baths or showers can also damage the surface of the skin, leading to dryness. That’s because hot water strips the oils from your skin and can leave it more susceptible to drying out, cracking, and flaking,
Likewise, when the weather turns colder, steer clear from harsh soaps, and rubbing the skin vigorously when drying it can contribute to skin damage.
How to solve this: To prevent dry skin and stay hydrated in chilly weather, avoid any overly-hot shower. Also, take care of how you dry your skin. Instead of rubbing (a huge no-no), gently pat your skin dry with a soft towel.
We know this can be difficult, especially if you live in a country where it is super cold all the time. So in this case, a good rule to keeping moisture would be to shower with slightly warmer water to avoid any hot water.
As we said, fragrance has the enormous potential to dry your skin (and this especially affects people who already have dry skin).
Fragrance is a common source of allergic contact dermatitis. It could take several exposures for the skin to react, or you might see a reaction the very first time, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
How to solve this: Always opt for fragrance-free skin products. Don’t be fooled by marketing buzz words or cute packaging.
Cold outdoor weather, harsh winds, and rain can instantly strip the skin of its natural, moisturizing oils.

How to solve this: If you always want to stay hydrated and maintain your skin’s moisture level and natural oils, carry with you a hydrating cream or a small mineral spray water. Use an air humidifier at home to keep a healthy level of moisture in the air.

As you get older, dry skin seems to also become a somewhat bigger problem. As we get older, our skin produces fewer oils. Also, as we age, we seemingly experience less the feeling of being thirsty, often making us forget to drink water.
The Mayo Clinic notes that adults ages 40 or older are at an increased risk of experiencing dry skin. For women, it could also be due to the hormone changes associated with menopause.
How to solve this: Moisturize every day (or multiple times a day if needed). look for a moisturizer that contains ceramides, humectants (such as hyaluronic acid or glycerin), and petrolatum. These ingredients help replenish lost moisture and quickly repair the skin barrier, she says. Also, add daily reminders to drink more water to hydrate from the inside.
We hope these dry-weather skincare tips will maintain your skin glowing at all times.
What’s important is also to never, (and we mean never), forget to use sunscreen, even when it’s cold, cloudy, rainy.
In winter, especially, before stepping outside, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF30 (or higher) with water resistance and moisturizing ingredients such as lanolin or glycerin.
